In the spirit of International Women’s Day, join General Assembly, Carousell and CRIB for an evening showcasing women who have taken groundbreaking action in their fields.

Our speakers are female leaders who are spearheading local innovation in tech, business, or creative . These creative and inspirational women will share their stories on how they got to where they are today and share their insights into being a woman in business. Afterwards we will open up the floor for questions, followed by mingling with panelists and attendees.

Aziza Sheerin                
Regional Director, Singapore at General Assembly      

Aziza leads the Singapore office for global education company General Assembly as its Regional Director. Prior to this, Aziza covered Emerging Markets Asia for a 110-year old, not-for-profit financial education firm. She worked on new market expansion and building partnerships with governments, international development organizations, and stakeholders invested in advancing education and economic growth in emerging Asian economies.

Experienced media and advertising leader with a demonstrated history of working in the newspapers and digital industry. Strong business development professional skilled in Digital Strategy, Media Buying, Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Marketing, and Marketing Strategy. Known for strong bias for strategy and action. Thrives on change and dealing with ambiguity. Greatest achievements have been in the area of building & engaging talent and transforming teams.

Tjin Lee is managing director and founder of the award-winning Mercury Group of companies which she founded in 2001. Mercury Group specializes in fashion, lifestyle and luxury industries and comprises Mercury Events, Mercury PR, Mercury Creative and Mercury Marketing & Communications.
Tjin started her career in fashion and luxury lifestyle as part of the marketing team of Club 21, Singapore’s leading fashion retailer. Most recently, she was the chairman for Singapore Fashion Week 2017.
Tjin co-founded CRIB in 2014, Singapore’s first business and lifestyle incubator targeted at women. The social enterprise aims to empower and encourage women from all walks of life to create successful, responsible and innovative businesses through networking, matchmaking and business incubation – all this while maximising the elusive goal of achieving a fulfilling work-life balance.
Most recently, Tjin together with a group of parents, founded Life Beyond Grades, a movement that hopes to bring about awareness of the rising depression and suicide rates among the youth in Singapore, as well as the immense academic pressure kids face in school.

Val Ji-hsuan Yap 
CEO and Founder of Policy Pal

Former sales broker at Allianz, Val feels passionately about making insurance protection simple and accessible to everyone. Upon graduation, she worked as a Risk Assurance Consultant at PwC in London. After that, Val went on to become the Assistant Vice President at OCBC Bank in Singapore focusing on launching digital campaigns, working closely with wealth and marketing to drive innovations. Val who was recently named to Forbes “30 Under 30” list for Finance and Venture Capital and Fellow at Singapore University of Social Sciences, is a post-graduate with MSc Business Management at Imperial College London and BA Digital Media at University of the Arts London. She's a frequent speaker at universities and conferences. When not at work, Val is an avid globe-trotter and a sports enthusiast.
